What is Silver State Stars Nevada QRIS?

Silver State Stars Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS) is a voluntary program open to all child care centers in Nevada. The QRIS is a systemic approach to improve and assess the level of quality in child care centers. The QRIS also helps families find high quality child care that fits their needs and the needs of their children. There is no cost to centers or their families.
Star Level Definitions
HIGHEST QUALITY (Far exceeds high quality)
QUALITY PLUS (Exceeds high quality standards)
QUALITY (Meets high quality standards)
PROGRESSING STAR (Approaching high quality standards)
RISING STAR (Committed to quality improvement)
NO RATING (Program has chosen not to participate in the QRIS)
Silver State Stars QRIS is a voluntary 5-star system open only to center-based programs at this time.
Silver State Stars QRIS is a voluntary program open to all child care centers in Nevada.
One Star centers have signed up for the QRIS coaching program. They are working on making center-wide improvements to their policies, procedures, classroom environments, and staff professional development. By participating, centers are demonstrating a commitment to improving quality.
It should be understood advancing from Star Level 1 to subsequent levels is an accomplishment that takes a significant amount of time and effort.
Family Child Care, Licensed Exempt, and Tribal QRIS models are currently being piloted and will be available in 2016.
